Pranavayu Yoga Series Guides
about PranaVayu:
David Magone founded PranaVayu Yoga™ in 2001. The style blends vigorous, flowing sequencing with contemplative exercises and breathing techniques that help students return to a sense of centeredness and balance. PranaVayu Yoga integrates traditional Hatha Yoga, Ukrainian training methods, and creative expression.
PranaVayu Yoga, loosely translated as "The Breath of Life," is a style of vinyasa yoga based on three principles:
1) Sequencing makes difficult postures easier.
2) Moving the body through imagery is more effective than moving by muscle alone.
3) Changing the body is a gateway to freeing the mind.
PranaVayu Yoga has five distinct sequences, each incorporating the body's four ranges of motion: (back bends, forward bends, transverse stretching, and twisting). The PranaVayu sequences give aspiring practitioners an efficient and logical methodology to develop their practice.
about the series:
1. Sauca (purity)
Builds strength and flexibility to prepare practitioner for more advanced sequencing.
2. Santosa
Focuses on deeper back bending and hip flexibility.
3. Isvarapranidhana (Surrender to the Infinite)
4. Svadhyaya (Self Study)
Advanced hip opening work leading to inverted Lotus.
5. Tapas (Heat)
Primarily a strength-building sequence; challenging arm balances abound.
